(from the album SOUND MINDS SPEAK VOLUMES 2009)
You’re in your 20s
You’re already undergoing midlife crisis
Under pressure from the world
I envy you
And in your 20s
You’ve made up your mind
That you’ll let it rule over your heart
At all times
I envy you
I’m on my way to my 30s
But I truly like I’m still 17
Though it’s not what it seems
I envy
And in my 30s
I’ll be afraid of growing old like that
Under pressure from the world
I pity you
No one cares about
What goes on inside of you, you
And the world just wants to see
What comes out of you
When you’ve done everything
What will you do
When you’ve gone everywhere
Where will you go
And in your 40s
You’ll look back and you’ll learn
You had all the right to be a child
And in your 40s
You’ll realize you’ve grown too old too fast
You were pressured by the world
I pity you
No one knows about the child
That cries inside you
And the world just wants to see
The grown-up that’s you
I challenge you
Not to feel guilty
When you face the challenge
Of setting yourself free
And when I’m 50
I’ll find you just to tell you
That I’ve finally
Grown up to be me
And when I’m 50
I’ll prove to you
You didn’t have to be
Under pressure by the world
I promise you
I’d still care about the child that cries inside you
So who cares about what the world says about you
I promise you
I’d still care about you
When I’m 50,
When I’m 50
When I’m 50
